Cauliflower fried rice is a low-carb, robust, and tasty rice replacement meal. Fried with eggs and cilantro, garnished with fresh corn and green scallions. Sprinkled with roasted wasabi sesame.
Where do I start? First, getting a fresh medium cauliflower head would be a great start 🙂 . I dice mine into small pieces and load them into a food processor. Take a look below to see how easy and simple is to make this recipe.
As soon as you have the cauliflower ready, it is time to fry it with some healthy free range eggs. Best oil to fry here would be coconut oil.
Fry your cauliflower on medium-high heat for a few minutes. Next, move it to the side of the pan. Mix your previously beaten eggs. I added diced cilantro to mine for the aroma and desired flavor. After that, fry eggs on one side of the frying pan; mix everything together once the eggs are done. If you are not a big fan of eggs, you can always try our Cilantro lime cauliflower rice which is fried without them.
Mix your cauliflower fried rice with fresh corn and garnish with green scallions. Sprinkle with roasted wasabi sesame to spice it up a little bit!
Above all, serve while it’s hot.
Frequently Asked Questions from Our Readers – Cauliflower Fried Rice
Can I make this dish vegan?
Absolutely! Simply omit the eggs and ensure your soy sauce is vegan-friendly. You can include tofu or chickpeas as a protein alternative.
How do I store leftovers?
Place them in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Consider reheating gently on the stove or in the microwave, and add a dash of soy sauce if necessary.
What other proteins work well?
We’ve succeeded with shrimp, beef strips, and even edamame as a plant-based protein source.
Can I freeze cauliflower fried rice?
Yes, it should be good up to a month. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
How do I prevent the dish from being bland?
Be bold and adjust seasonings to your taste. Adding extra garlic, ginger, or even a dash of fish sauce can enhance the flavor.
Is cauliflower rice healthier than regular rice?
Cauliflower rice is often seen as a healthier choice compared to regular rice. It’s lower in calories and carbohydrates and provides more fiber and nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin K, and antioxidants. On the other hand, regular rice, especially white rice, tends to be higher in calories and doesn’t offer as many nutrients.
How to make cauliflower rice that isn’t soggy?
To avoid soggy cauliflower rice, it’s important to dry it thoroughly after ricing. A great way to cook it is by sautéing it in a hot pan with a small amount of oil for about 3-5 minutes, which helps evaporate any extra moisture. Be careful not to overcook it, as that can cause it to release more water and become mushy.
Can cauliflower rice be substituted for regular rice?
Yes, you can definitely swap out regular rice for cauliflower rice in many dishes. It’s a fantastic low-carb alternative that works well in stir-fries, burrito bowls, or as a side dish. Keep in mind that the texture and flavor will be different from regular rice, so you might need to make some adjustments based on the recipe.
Does cauliflower rice get mushy?
Cauliflower rice can become mushy if it’s overcooked or if it holds too much moisture. To prevent this, cook it briefly over high heat and ensure you drain any excess water before cooking.
